Understanding Rideshare and Delivery Platform Algorithms

Study Overview

Thank you for your interest in our research study! The purpose of this research is to learn more about rideshare and delivery platforms, and how people use them.

Participant Eligibility

You are eligible to participate if:

1. You use at least one of the following apps: Uber, UberEats, Lyft, Doordash, Grubhub, and Instacart
2. You order at least 2-3 rides/deliveries per week across all apps

Participation should take about 30 minutes of active time, and at the end of the study you will receive $10 in compensation with up to $10 in bonus compensation.

The study consists of four phases:

Data Privacy

Your data will be uploaded to a secure server, with access limited to the research team. You'll be able to review all of your data prior to uploading it to us.

Compensation

Participants who complete all phases of the study will receive compensation as follows:

1. $10 for uploading your ride/delivery history and at least 5 screenshots of your ride/delivery orders.
2. $1 bonus for each additional screenshot you upload (>5 total), up to $10. For example, if you upload 10 screenshots, you will receive $15.

Time Commitment

The study will take approximately 30 active minutes to complete over the course of 2-4 weeks.

Phase 1 will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. In Phase 2, you will have to take screenshots of each ride/delivery order you request. Next, in Phase 3, requesting your data from the apps takes about 10 minutes, and then requires a 24-72 hour processing period. Finally, in Phase 4, the last data upload process will take another 10 minutes.
